Troubleshooting Guide - X.PORT X.25 on Windows NT

Loading Problems

Ensure that the driver has been started:
go to Start > Settings > Control Panel, double-click on the Devices icon, and scroll down to the X.PORT Adapter Driver.
If it has not been started, press the Start button.

Once the adapter driver has been started, check that the X.PORT WAN Service is running:
go to Start > Settings > Control Panel, double-click on the Services icon, and scroll down to the X.PORT WAN Service.
If it is not already running, select it and press the Start button.

Problem Symptom Possible Cause(s) Action
The X.PORT Adapter Driver fails to start. The IRQ resource is being used by another device. Reconfigure the X.PORT adapter to use a different IRQ.
The X.PORT WAN Service fails to start The X.PORT adapter loader program (loadadpt.exe) has failed. Go to the loadadpt command prompt - see what error is displayed, and check below for the action to take.

Note: if loadadpt fails, it may be easier to run the program explicitly in order to see the error message produced. Start a command prompt window, and go to the \tsf folder, and run loadadpt.exe.
Loadadpt fails with the following message:

ERROR (31): Loadadpt unable to bootstrap the adapter: A device attached to the system is not functioning.
The memory window configuration does not match the adapter jumper settings Check the memory window configuration is correct.
If necessary, reconfigure the memory window.
There is a clash with another device Reconfigure the memory window.
There is a conflict with the BIOS settings Check the BIOS settings, to ensure that there is no conflict
If necessary, reconfigure the memory window.
Loadadpt times out and reports a problem with the IRQ or the following message:
The adapter failed to Initialise (2, 0x0)
The IRQ configuration is incorrect or there is a clash with another device Reconfigure the IRQ
Loadadpt reports a problem with the setup.x25 file or the following message:
The adapter failed to Initialise (12, 0x0)
The setup.x25 file has been changed or corrupted and an error introduced. Run the X.PORT Configuration program, and the reload the adapter by clicking on the Reload button.
